Turning Leaves

Summer ends,

the warming heat cooled by Autumn’s breath—

turning leaves of vibrant green

into Nature’s canvas of livid color,

reds, orange, browns and yellow

explode to the ground as confetti on New Years eve.



And with an intoxicating smell

some say of cinnamon,

a perfect pillow of tranquility cradles your body

as the cirrus pass swiftly by, waving

creating shadows on your bare stomach.

Sitting On A Fence of Indecision



Perched atop a fence

I contemplate the world’s woes,

a visionary of sorts.


Affixed safely on this rail

waiting, anticipating my next move

as to which side I fall today.


The wrong side foreign,

because I time it so—

deciding just in time, to be on the right side.


But the fence has failed me,

Mother's Manna



Mother's manna forms

not as miraculously as some think,

and feeds no one here--

unless feeding the mind counts.


An uneven balance, of sorts

hunger fed with empty promises,

a decaying, from inside out

healing only what deserves your attention.


Retracing tiny footprints

outlined in yesterday's dust,

hidden, within an addict's shadow
