And she cries as she slides into his arms,

For the past and for the present

For the love she has to give yet keeps locked away

For the fears of her discovery

Even as she loses who she ever felt she was

Or could be

Never realizing that she has the control to change it all

And always knowing it is solely in her hands

Beaten down by words and craving positivity

Both moving and immobile in the same place

Stuck with a man who loves her ...

Locked away for years within your treasure trove

Time slowly decays, until the game gets old

I sit and stare in deepest black that never seems to end

Knowing someday time will come. My heart will start to mend

Pretentious reasons fill the air and justify this curse

I know no matter how I try, your wounds are yours to nurse

Never knowing if you'll see: the holes within your soul

Never knowing if you'll ever choose to let me go.

My Independence

My independence

does not remove

someone for me to lean upon.

It does not exclude

a sounding board

for my frustrations or ideas

My independence

ss knowing that I can do it by myself

but I don't have to.

It is knowing

you are there to back me up

when I ask you to

My independence

is being strong enough to know

when I need help

It is being wi...

full of history

past emotion

long forgotten

now but flecks

upon that canvas

Shades of joy

and sadness

mix in azures

the color of sky

light and dark like the

clouds of the day

Grey drop of anger

mingle with

tanned shades of

warm summer days

and lying in the sand

content with the world

Echoes of

long forgotten love

shine in

My core explodes

Months of nicities slough off to reveal

a core of molten emotion

Hatred and anger, long subsumed

released into a torrent

battering the unstable bridge

upon which we communicate

Your self serving selfishness

overwhelms me and my desires for civility

as I forsee our three children

the victims in your path

yet you continue on

forsight restricted by misinformation.

Slowly, I ga...

Melt Me

Frozen barren wastes

long neglected

surround my soul

tattered by wind

and blown about

Silence reverberates

across the icy slopes

and I wait.

Keeing wails begin afar

and fear sets in

You are coming,

attempting to free me

from my self imposed exile

To convince me that this

ins not my future

and I resist

Slowly you begin to appear

a soft glow at the periphery

My fragility exposed

With each day you are gone

Insecurity leaks from my pores

Threatens to overwhelm me

I steel myself against the storm

Hold tight to my emotions

Brace myself for what is to come

and pray for solace

No fault of yours

Brings me to this

Self doubt breeds itself

Without nourishment

Yet you bring me back

From the edge

Shoring up my walls

And patching...

What can I write that my heart hasn't already shown you?

Spoken words lie empty without actions

Soft kisses upon the forehead

Sweet nothings whispered into the wind.

My days spent walking through fog

And nights lying soaked in darkness and silence.

You are my liquid heaven

Respite from days of nothing

Appeasing me with lullabys

And I drift into my dreams

You hold me captive with a look

Hidden Hurt

Posted by Irish Temper on April 29, 2011 at 9:23 PM Comments comments (0)

Rivulets run down her face of all that turns her heart

Stress, and love and lonliness never want to part

Pulling at her insides, tearing from within

Hidden underneath, well beneath her skin

Support that is elusive, never comes to be

Slowly she is drowning, as sure as if at sea.

Reaching out for solace, hoping to be saved

If it doesn't come soon, her white flag will be waved

Friends just in fair weather, family far away

The time I wait for

Posted by Irish Temper on April 28, 2011 at 9:21 PM Comments comments (0)

And so I wait,

for the house to become quiet

as the children fall asleep

for that moment

each evening

when you become mine

when I lie down in your arms

and you hold me close.

The second when

your lips touch mine

and I am remind

by your soft kisses

upon my neck &

your whispers in my ear

that I am yours

This is the time

I wait for
