Woke up this morning
No ringing in my head
Thought to myself
It's going to be a good day
Kissed my little three
And I was off just like that
Radio blaring down the road as I drove
and it started
started slow
snuck up on me
I wasn't ready for that blow
Like a semi truck smashing into my heart
ripped my soul clean apart
That cold familar ache
tapped me on the shoulder
and the tears poured down like rain
blurred my vision
and as I wiped them from my face
I swear I saw you sitting right there
Not gone, not lost, not anywhere else
but right there
right there next to me
I blinked and you were gone
DAMN IT if only I could have kept my eyes open
You'd still be there
you'd still be here
right here
not anywhere
but right here
still with me
still with us
Not gone...
Not gone...
NOT GONE!!!
gone...
in a moment you were gone
I am left empty
and void
dark
sad
oh so very sad
and so the spiral starts again
down into the abyss
and I'll claw to keep my soul alive
scratch and tear at the walls that are closing in
closing in
tighter and tighter
taking my breath away
and I gasp for air
drowning in the sorrow
of lost yesterday's
and blank tomorrow's
