They crowded in the spaces, open places, the areas where he once was

Heart strings humming the tunes, they came to the siren song

To crash upon the shores of mourning, throw pennies at the shallow graves

The shovel marks still bare to sun, bruises peaking out on dirty knees

Prayers for anguish to end, met with rubbish and mass pity

It Is Quiet

Stillness in moist air, where hot voices once echoed

Tiny shards of glass emotion painting pain

Slivers kissing red streams, the blood is wet

Sticky like glue that hasn’t quite set

Wounds still fresh, whimpers quiet

An animal afraid she may be heard

Curled into pillows and her own madness

Ache the child of kindness and caring

The Love Poem

I sat down to write this, a love poem to you
My mind racing with the feelings I attach
To your very being, and your being in my life
Only to find that I can not put into words
The way you touch my soul with a smile
The giggles caused by random silly faces
Or the school girl’s crush when I see myself
Inside of your eyes, dancing in the light
The number of times I long to count your freckles
Or get lost inside the strands of your hair...

Surface

On the surface, it was smooth and reflective
The image held the familiar brown eyes of the girl
Softness to the features broken in grief
And I felt
Felt every tear drop as it met the corners of her eyes
Salty and overly full of the this deep sadness welling
And I sank
Sank deep into her well, the walls made of shadow
The floor beneath me made of misery
The only thing left to do was to look up at the heavens
